Dayton Air Force Museum

After we left the beautiful Smokies and Gatlinburg, we headed north toward Michigan. One place Craig really wanted to stop and see was the Dayton Air Force Museum. Although the campground we stayed in for a couple of nights wasn't the greatest, we really enjoyed the museum. Of course, we pretended that we were asked to board the presidential planes and Craig even pretended to take off in an F4. Also it was neat to see some of the prototypes for the stealth fighter, valkyrie and others.

Great Smoky Mountains

We spent two - three days traveling through the Great Smoky Mountains. We took some driving tours, but we also walked along some of the streams and brooks, and we explored an old homestead. I could easily put dozens of beautiful pictures of God's creation in this blog. It's been hard to choose only a few. There were also some beautiful wildflowers growing! Only God could create such beauty!

I also can't help but think of the people who first lived in these areas....both Native Americans and settlers. What a difficult life it must have been for them.

Gatlinburg, TN

After leaving Willow Tree in Myrtle Beach, SC we arrived in Gatlinburg, TN. We hadn't stayed there in years, so we were excited that we could revisit and remember some of the places we had stayed with our kids when they were growing up and we were on vacation.

Of course it was hilly there, but beautiful. Our campground was in a ravine, so that was rather exciting getting the trailer down the big hill. Across the road, was a small, quiet stream going by. One day we had a huge, quick rain downpour and Craig took some pictures as our little stream turned into a raging, almost overflowing river! We also spent a couple of days wandering around the town of Gatlinburg. It was very hot there! We did enjoy a trolley ride as we viewed the shopping areas.

Camping Friends

We were really tickled this past Thursday and Friday when our friends the Hendricks came camping right next door to us here at Willow Tree. Jock is the music guy at Alice Drive Baptist Church in Sumter. That's how we first got to know him, but when we all found out that he likes Nascar racing as much as Craig, we knew this would probably be a life long friendship! Craig and Jock have worked together on roofing some homes too. Tammy, his wife, and Emma Kate and Anna Beth are as sweet as they come! We were happy that their friend Emily came camping too. We had some great campfires, played games, enjoyed the campground and had much talking and laughter. We were glad that since Williams were in town too, we could all go to dinner together. We were sad to say goodbye to the Hendricks, since we probably won't see them again until next year. They have become like family to us.

Just What Does She Do????

I've no doubt that many of you wonder, just what does Sally do all day? I keep pretty busy with all kinds of things....cleaning, reading, crocheting, sewing, cooking, baking, shopping, riding my bike, and talking to Harry and Louie. The blog has taken an amazing amount of time too!

I've really enjoyed this peaceful time. Sometimes I feel pretty close to paradise. The full moon at night is amazing. God, our Creater, has once again overwhelmed me with the beauty all around each one of us, if we will just look! The weather has basically been beautiful and I've enjoyed everything about this time at Willow Tree. I'm always taking pictures so I've included a few with more animals and a small glimpse at that moon. (:
